Lakes conquered

Saturday was the day for a trip to the Lakes and a 22mile jaunt through Grizedale, Low Parkamoor, Bletherbarrow lane, Breasty Haw, Fox sculpture descent and finally Claife Heights.

Switched the shock shuttle on the enduro to the high BB one and this was a revelation. No more pedal smacks and generally a much better ride. Easily as good as the nicolai on descents.

Fox descent in particular was awesome, absolutely flew it. If I can ride that fast on the Megavalanche qualifier I might make the first wave!

Climbing was still a nightmare, got cramp at around the 17-18 mile mark, just before the Claife height climb, which became more of a push. I had to get up there so I could do the descent back to Hawkshead. However, had a snakebite near the end, and managed to ruin 3 inner tubes with the tyre levers trying to repair it! 30 minutes later, I rolled back to hawkshead, the tyre going down again. Just another reason to go tubeless methinks......

Megavalanche 2007

I am entering Megavalanche 2007 - so help me God.

A race against 1400 other mountain bikers down a mountain in Alpe d'Heuz in France.
Some of those other bikers might be Bad Brains members, we are looking to organise it as a trip for the more mentalist member , staying at the wonderful properties run by in Les Deux Alpes (30-40 mins from Alpe d'Heuz)

approx 44 weeks and counting to blast off!

I'm here!

phew, das nut has finally got a blog. This can only mean bad news.

"Whats happening in dasnut freeride land" I hear you cry (or maybe you are just crying, its so hard to tell)

Well, I am off to Ladybower this evening for a ride with the Bad Brains crew. This one involves riding the "Beast" in the dark. My lights are fully charged.

Then on Saturday, off upto Grizedale with a few folks from work. Nice little route planned (22miles) taking in the best sections of the Northface Trail, plus Parkamore, Breasty Haw and Claife Heights. You know it makes sense. 1100m climbing. That should test my new lightweight 6" travel clown bike. That will take me to a total of around 70 miles on the bike this week. And relax......
